House Of Cards AW13 Preview

Recently I had the pleasure of being invited to the House of Cards AW13 Preview with the lovely Kirsten of blog Starring Nobody. House of Cards designer Ashiya was cute, cheerful and quirky and so is her label. With some designs made in limited runs and others stocked on websites such as The Iconic, House of Cards is building a name for itself for fun, youthful separates and dresses.

I fell in love with the exclusively designed flamingo screen print. Mix my obsession with flamingos swirled with my forever love of pastels pink & mint with favourite neutral navy and it is a match made in heaven.

But, you'll have to be patient, this collection will be released in February 2013 so definitely stay tuned to http://www.houseofcardsthelabel.com/

Rebecca Manning SS13 Swimwear Launch

Recently I went to the launch of good friend Rebecca Manning's Summer 2012-13 Swimwear collection.

This year, the collection incorporates lots more resort wear and as a first, all the collection is available in separates. This means you have an array of choice for different top and brief styles as well if you're a little more daring, maybe mixing prints.

Rebecca Manning prints are exclusively designed for her collection so if you love print, make sure you snap up your very own piece or two. My favourite print is the leopard mixed with underlying Versace inspired design with pop magenta accents in the very luxe lounge pants. See below me wearing mine!

If you're in Brisbane, head to her store for a look-see at 46a James Street, Fortitude Valley QLD.
Otherwise, check out www.rebeccamanning.com.au for a shop online!

Lisa Brown Spring Summer Collection 2012

When I saw the Lisa Brown collection on the catwalk at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane in August, I was taken back by the cool world graphic silk print used.

I got the chance to interview designer Lisa Brown about her "Vagabond - Wanderer"Collection.
Lisa Brown did not study design but is a self taught designer. She discovered she had an eye for beautiful fabrics and detail but had the dilemma that she couldn't afford to buy the things she loved. This realisation made her get creative and start designing clothes for herself eventually launching herself as a designer. Even though Lisa didn't officially study any design course, she does recommend  those wanting a career in fashion design to study a course.

As a child, Lisa was a tomboy and never liked wearing dresses. At the tender age of 13, Lisa began admiring her older sisters' clothing and she then began paying more attention to fashion. Lisa is inspired by fashion icons such as Bianca Jagger's style and admires clever Australian designers such as Dion Lee for his interesting layering and New York designer Donna Karan for her effortless draping.

When designing her own collections Lisa aims to create wearable pieces that could take you from day to night anywhere in the world plus also a few special occasion pieces. Using silks & cottons, Lisa Brown designs are perfect to wear for the hot Australian climate, day time weekend dressing to party to dinner. When asked what her favourite pieces in the collection were, Lisa answered "I’m loving my Neva Map print pants, Evita Haram pants & Lucille top".  For stockists information to try on your very own Lisa Brown piece, visit www.lisa-brown.com.au
