Earlier this month, I had the privilege of seeing Louise walk the David Jones AW 12 launch show. Her unusual look is not what you would say is typically "beauty" however her look is captivating and memorable. Her wide-set blue eyes, paired with her creamy skin, petite pinky pout and long lithe frame and utter capitivation of a camera lense when its turned on her is why she is taking the world by storm.
But it's not her looks alone that has her ranked as one of Australia's most in-demand models internationally, it's her chameleon qualities and her ability to transform into characters outside of herself.
Was modelling a childhood dream?
No, not at all. I was quite shy when I was little but when I was 17, one of my friends convinced me to do a shoot. I got a bit of confidence from that. They were friends with a Sydney agent who got in contact with me and kind of begged me to come down here. It's obviously a good way to get into fashion design as well - that was my main goal.Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/celebrity/louise-van-de-vorst-i-dont-want-to-be-come-a-superstar-20110718-1hkw1.html#ixzz1mtCWfjGJ
You have been a sensation on the Australian modelling scene since you were first scouted, did you ever think you would come this far in your modelling career?
I think hard work and determination goes a really long way, nbo matter what field you chose to work in. I've been really fortunate in my career so far but it's definitely a commitment....you have to be 100% committed to the job. Interview with Sacha Strebe, The Vine. 2011Do you plan to start your own label?
I want to in a little while. I'm going to go to Paris this year, which will be really nice, and do a bit more travelling, a bit more modelling. Will you ever move overseas to model?
I lived in New York and I liked that but I love Newcastle. It's home to me and I've been making [our home] beautiful and interior decorating and, I don't know, I'm not into big cities any more.Do you want to pursue an international career?
Not in a big way but maybe, whatever happens, happens but I'm not out there to become a superstar.Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/celebrity/louise-van-de-vorst-i-dont-want-to-be-come-a-superstar-20110718-1hkw1.html#ixzz1mtCcM3XJ
What do you do in your spare time?
I have been renovating the house a lot and do a lot of interior decorating. If you ever come to my house you'll see it. It's pretty crazy, stuff is everywhere, there are instruments, fabric, paint, crayons, food and cooking. It's all a big, crazy place.Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/celebrity/louise-van-de-vorst-i-dont-want-to-be-come-a-superstar-20110718-1hkw1.html#ixzz1mtChPrfU
Aside from the modelling stage, she's offered the audience an equally compelling performance as she transitions into acting, starring in several fashion films of late.
Check out this film, a collaboration with Oyster magazine where she plays a flame-haired vamp alongside model veteran Tanja Gacic.
